That runny nose and mild cough have officially turned into a really nasty cold, with a brutal cough (especially when he’s laying down, which wreaks havoc with naps and sleep at night). I took him to see the same Naturopath Doctor we saw before, and she confirmed that it’s not bacterial (no fever, no loss of appetite or energy) and the wheezing is bronchial (not wet in the lungs, like pneumonia). She’s given us a few Unda drops to give him and by this evening he was already sounding much better.
He showed me that he could climb over the arm of the couch, onto the side table near the phone, so I realized that the gate blocking the hallway isn’t much use anymore. Now I just have to come up with another way/location to store my keychains (until he’s OK to play with them – when he stops putting everything into his mouth!). Mum gives him much more freedom than I do … he’s allowed into the kitchen when she’s there. I’m not a fan of the kitchen at the best of times, but especially when he’s getting into garbage cans and such, so I really like having the gate block the kitchen. It probably won’t have to be there much longer, though. Hopefully he’ll stop having to root through everything soon, so we can take down the gate. We’ll also be looking to sell the Superyard soon – it’s usefulness is coming to an end, although it blocks him from all the audio/visual equipment now and I’m not looking forward to having him play with that stuff. When he gets his mitts on them, we might end up taping House instead of Private Practice.
We’ve got a really busy few days leading up to Christmas (only 5 sleeps!) – Merry Christmas, everyone!
