I have really enjoyed taking a bath with Nicholas (only his very first bath was in the baby tub – after that it was always with us), but we want a bigger tub!
We have been using the White Hot Safety Duck Tub by Munchkin that Elaine brought us from the US, but he’s going to outgrow it soon.
Before we had the duck tub, we were starting to bathe him in the regular tub on his own. We bought the Multi-Use Bathing Cushion by The First Years. It has two main uses: (1) in the tub as a non-slip mat and head pillow, or (2) over the edge of the tub to protect mummy’s knees. We have only used it as a non-slip mat. Bathing Nicholas this way has worked well – I do find that it’s a more “efficient” bath, though, and not the relaxing time it used to be when he wasn’t so wiggly.
My only complaint about it is that the material floats. There are only 4 suction cups to hold the mat in place, and when you only use a few inches of water, the mat is always floating to the top. This wouldn’t be an issue if the tub was full.
As much as I love our current shower head, I’m going to look into one of the heads that can be pulled down so he has more of a shower than a bath.
In a pinch, remember you can always use the sink …
