OK, I admit I was a dummy mummy today. After Baby Talk, a bunch of us decided to take advantage of the good weather and walk around the inlet. 20 minutes into the walk, my shoes started to feel uncomfortable. I was wearing these cute little Sketcher-like shoes for the first time – yes, I should have known better. But, it’s hard to sit behind when the group goes walking – it’s so inspiring to see them all trekking along together, and goodness knows I need the exercise. 40 minutes into the walk, I started to dread taking my shoes off, sure that my feet were bleeding. Think I decided to turn back at this point? That would have been smart, eh?! Well, I kept going, and after 2 hours I was almost in tears … and actually scared to look at my feet.
When I got home and pulled off my shoes, I found the nastiest blisters all over my feet – some popped and some full of fluid. Gross! Ouch! Dummy mummy! Thank goodness, yet again, for the foot bath I was given a few years ago and some epsom salts. After a good long soak with bubbles, my feet were feeling quite a bit better, but next time I’m going to make sure I have comfy shoes in the car for those unexpected moments!
