Sorry this has been such a miserable month for posts – this “parenting alone” thing really is as much work as I thought it might be … and then some.
Nicholas weighed in at 24 lbs 13 oz today – not gaining much these days. You should see how active he is – pretty much non-stop now. I feed (and nurse) him often, but he’s almost burning the calories faster than I can put them into him.
Had a slightly disturbing moment today – he was standing at the table, doing that “poop stare” that he does (holds his breath and turns purple while he pushes it) and then suddenly started screaming! My guess is that it’s some of the paper he munched on yesterday when Daddy wasn’t looking. I bet it doesn’t digest terribly well.
I found another group to join that appeals to me (like I need something else to fill my negative available time) – Attachment Parenting Vancouver. They meet every week, but I might just do the online part of the group if I don’t feel like driving into Vancouver every other week.
Sleep has become a slightly easier process. He’s usually ready for bed between 8 and 8:30pm (with nursing), sleeps until 12-ish (I’m usually still up then), has a slurp and goes back to sleep until 5 or 6am. Then I either go in to nurse him or Patrick brings him into our bed (depends who wakes up first) and he sleeps again until 7 or 8am. It’s working pretty well for us, so I have nothing to complain about. Lucky me!
His top 2 teeth are so close to popping out – the gums are stretched tight over the teeth – they look huge! No wonder he gives a yell from time to time (like right now). I’d yell too if something that sharp was piercing my gums!
