Our friends invited us to a Mariner’s game in Seattle this past weekend, so we jumped at the chance to have a real vacation (that didn’t include visiting family), especially because we could hit the outlet stores with our dollar almost on par with the US dollar ($1.05 when I bought some cash on Friday). We had a super time shopping, watching the game, exploring Pike Place Market, eating, and, above all, completely relaxing! Yes, it was an expensive weekend, but we feel so refreshed from it!
If we do ever move, I’d like to seriously consider a king-sized bed (won’t fit in our current bedroom) – I love how much space each of us had and how well we slept because of it. Thanx to our friends who gave us the King and took the room with 2 Doubles instead!
One of the really memorable moments from the trip was during the drive home. Nicholas was facing forward for the trip, so Patrick could drive, and I would turn around from time to time to give him a smile and a wave. His little face lit up every time! One time in particular was so neat … he had his arm crooked up behind his head (this means he was about to fall asleep) so I said “buenas noches” (good night) – he blew me a kiss and closed his eyes to sleep. My heart melted into a puddle and I almost cried – it was so sweet!
Another fun moment was watching Nicholas and Mathias playing with the hockey sticks … signs of things to come? I know hockey is an expensive and demanding sport (especially with early ice times), but I do love it and hope that Nicholas might enjoy playing it. We’ve often said he might make a great goalie. That’s one of those “wait and see” things – I don’t want to push him into anything he doesn’t like.
