Nicholas made his first attempt at an English word today … “bye-bye” came out when he was waving good-bye, but sounded more like “bow-bow” (sounds like bowel, not boa). I think he learnt it from the toy phone he’s been playing with a lot this last week. He’s had the phone for about 6 months, but has only just recently figured out how to press the buttons to get the sounds (the phone says, “I love you <kiss>, Hello, Ring-Ring, Bye-Bye, etc).
He also made an attempt at a new sign today – cracker. The sign is made by “cracking” a closed fist on the opposite elbow. His adaptation was to crack his fist onto his ear … so cute!
He’s not well tonight. He nursed on and off for a couple of hours, barely ate dinner but snacked later when we were eating (which he then promptly threw up), guzzled water, nursed again, and finally went to bed (for the 3rd time tonight) at 10:30pm. He’s already woken up once, but managed to settle himself back to sleep. Here’s hoping he makes it through the night, because I really need a good sleep tonight. Two nights ago we were blessed with a 9-hour sleep from the boy! I sure wish he would warn me in advance when he’s going to do that, so I can be sure not to waste the precious sleep time. I’m finding it hard to fall asleep before 1am, in anticipation of his first “midnight snack”.
