What a great afternoon, sailing across the Strait on Grampa’s sailboat. Nicholas was incredibly well-behaved and calm-natured as he took in all the new sights and sounds and sensations. He even had a nap with Mummy in the quarter-berth. We didn’t know what to expect, but he was the same way in the boat as he is in the car … calm and curious to look around.
Peter warned us when we were about to hit another boat’s wake by yelling, “wave”, at which point Nicholas would frantically start waving (not at anything specific) and laughing uproariously, which if course sent the rest of us into gales of laughter. We are so blessed to have this little bundle of absolute joy in our lives!
Word associations continue to be a major part of Nicholas’ day. He likes to connect things together. They are interchangeable, so whichever word he hears first, the other one tends to follow immediately. Here are some of his associations to date: Bapa = boat, airplane = nana, bombero (fireman) = lights, dog = ball, Meh-Meh (his friend Mathias) = hockey, Gramma = kitty cat, boys = soccer.
