Somewhere in the last couple of weeks the weaning process stepped up to where Nicholas only nurses once a day now, first thing in the morning. If the morning is super crazy, such as yesterday was, then he might even miss that one and either go without for the whole day or ask for it in the afternoon. He’s much more interested in drinking “leche” (milk) now than he was even a month ago, so I assume that’s because he’s nursing less. We still don’t give him cow’s milk very often. He drinks mostly soy milk, and you should see his little face light up when he sees the blue cup coming with the white drink in it!
Part of me is enjoying this independence as I can wear things I haven’t worn for 3 years (cute little summer dresses and tops) and I don’t have to share my body all day. But, part of me does miss it terribly, as I expected I would. The morning “slurp” is a wonderful bonding time and I hope it does last for a while longer still.
I wonder what my doctor will say when I see him for my annual visit – he was adamant that I should stop nursing when Nicholas was a year old, so I’m curious to see if he’ll say anything (or if he’ll even be able to tell).
