One of the big things that I forgot to mention in the Disneyland post was that we received a call while we were there from someone filling in for our realtor (who was also away on vacation) to say we had received an offer on our condo! The next 24-hour period was a blur of phone calls, faxes, and decisions … all while having our regular fun-filled days in Disneyland. We ended up accepting an offer much lower than we had hoped for, but at least is was all done.
I do wish we had listed when we had first considered selling, back in the Spring, as the housing prices dropped dramatically over the last 6 months, but I guess that would have also meant we were buying in the same high market and might not have found what we wanted/needed in our price range.it
Our new home is everything we’ve been dreaming of, with minimal work required (has a 6-yr old roof, brand new furnace, 2 year-old water tank, and lots of upgrades), room for a growing family, and a gorgeous fully-fenced back yard. The property has hazelnut trees, blueberry bushes, grape vines, and a few fruit trees (prune plum, cherry, and pear). We don’t know the first thing about pruning and caring for fruit trees/bushes/vines, but I guess we’ll get a crash course!
Today (New Year’s Eve) we released subjects after the owners accepted our final offer (well below asking price), so we’re ready to ring in the new year with gusto! We take possession at the end of January, so better start packing!
